June 26-28 Camping at the Patuxet Wildlife Refuge North Tract

This trip was AWESOME! We had campfires both nights.

The boys helped with cooking and we had pancakes, roasted pork, roasted chicken and of course smores!

The campsite was close to home so everyone who couldn't camp, could still come to the scouts graduation!The graduation ceremony was fantastic - thank you to Boy Scout Troop 119 for joining our ceremony and breaking those arrows for our WebII's!

The scouts (and some siblings) worked with Cubmaster Al on learning how to use flint & steel to start a fire.

Fishing on the river was fruitful - Nathan caught three fish and Abby caught two! The boys (and girls) were able to get their feet wet wading in the water so they could get right into the fishing, and cool down too.

We saw lots of toads, frogs, fish. And we had a little friend (or a family of friends) in the form of a FOX visit the camp site often. And the first night a very large racoon snuggled up with Ms. Jenn!

We also took part in an Owl prowl night hike...and although we didn't see any owls, we heard one. We did see lots of interesting insects, a few toads and millions of fireflies!

Flag Day at the State House In Annpolis

ON June 14, Pack 119 joined other area packs for a Flag Day Ceremony. The guest speaker was Maryland's First Lady, Katie O'Malley!

Crownsville Veterans Cemetery

On May 23rd, the Cub Scouts of Pack 119 were excited to join hundreds of other scouts to place flags on the headstones at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery to honor those who have given their life for our country.

Camping at Calvert Cliffs April 2009

Camping at Calvert Cliffs was great in April! The site had a beautiful view of the bay. We roasted lots of things over the fire: hot dogs, chicken & vegetables...and most importantly MARSHMALLOWS! YUM! Pack 119 LOVES SMORES!

There was great fossil hunting on the beach, and Sammy found a couple shark's teeth! Very cool! We also had a challenging hike through the forest, but our scouts (and leaders and parents) did fantastic up and down all those hills.

Pinewood Derby April 2009

Our Pinewood Derby was a great success this year! We hosted the event at Piney Orchard Elementary School.

Our Scouts did a fantastic job on all their cars. Congratulations to Devin (1st place), Dillon (2nd place), Jackson (3rd place) & Zachary M. (4th place) for topping out the pack in the competition!!!

The boys did a great job singing Rudolph, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells and Hark The Herald Angels Sing to the residents. The residents also enjoyed the cards!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone - hope you didn't eat TOO MUCH turkey!

The hike on November 22 was COLD but fun. In the 3.2 miles we hiked, the boys saw a lot of neat things including fox scat, an owl, a great blue heron, deer hoof prints, and tons of fresh beaver gnaws! The boys worked on their Clean Sweep patch and cleaned up litter on the trail and in the woods - GOOD JOB GUYS! And everyone wanted to hold CM Al's really awesome walking stick. Remember - scouts can earn a stick after hiking 50 miles!

Hike Rescheduled

Because of some pretty nasty weather and poor trail conditions we rescheduled this month's hike to next Saturday November 22. All the other details are the same, but if anything changes, we'll let you know!

SEEDS OF KINDNESS

Welcome to all who made this pack.

Pack 119 has a lot in store for the coming year. As a pack we would like to have 4 camp outs a year - yes CAMP OUT!

Do you like hiking? I hope so, during winter months we will do a hike every other month with our first coming up on November 15th. Also at this time we are going to complete a community service project and practice "LEAVE NO TRACE".

We are growing fast. We bega this pack with 5 boys and a few leaders back in September, but now we are up to 17 active boys with their wonderful families.

Parents - we also have a sibling den so the whole family can come to every meeting. Don't leave anyone behind. We will always have something for everyone!
